First Aid Training
Information about Scouts First Aid training requirements can be found here.
The minimum level of First Aid required is known as First Response (Theory 10A and Practical 10B). You will not be deemed ‘compliant’ until you have completed both parts of the training and Theory 10A needs to be completed prior to attending Practical 10B.
A higher level (known as a Full First Aid certificate) is required for some adventurous activities. Further details can be found here.
How do I complete my training?
In Jersey there are different options to complete your First Response Training.
You can attend a face to face First Response course. For more information, dates and how to book please refer to the Training Calendar.
or
Complete your learning in a blended approach.
To complete Theory10A you must:-
- Complete the First Response e-learning, which can be accessed through navigating to the ‘Explore Learning’ section of My Learning. Search the course, enrol and start the learning. Please refer to the Digital Tool Guide on how to do this. The e-learning includes videos, fact sheets and quizzes. A downloadable confirmation of completion will be available so that, if required, it can be shared with trainers before attending the trainer led session.
- Then attend and participate in a 3 hour trainer led, online session. This comprises of different activities to consolidate the learning. Scouts.org.uk provide direct links to event booking pages via the First Response information pages.
Please note you need to complete the First Response e-learning first and then attend a trainer led, online session to complete Theory 10A.
Following your completion of Theory 10A you must then attend a short practical validation session that covers DRABC and CPR to complete Practical 10B and your First Response training. This is a 15-20 minute practical session. Please contact [email protected] to arrange.

This is accessed through navigating to the ‘Explore Learning’ section of My Learning. Search the course, enrol and start the learning.
Your qualifications will need to be checked by a Scout Accredited First Response Trainer. Please email a copy of your First Aid certificate, with the syllabus covered, to [email protected] . For any additional learning required your My Learning will be checked to see if you have completed the First Response Conversion e-learning. Once checked you will be advised if any other requirements are needed i.e. demonstration of child or adult CPR before your learning record is updated.
My professional qualification means I have a First Aid qualification.
The Scouts recognises that some professions by the nature of the job will have a first aid element; for example, Nurses, Midwives, Police Officers, Medical Practitioners, Members of HM Armed Forces, Ambulance Care – Assistants/Paramedics/Technicians, etc. to exempt these professions from undergoing more first aid training, they are required to provide evidence of an up-to-date qualification which should meet the criteria for what is considered our minimum standard (as listed above). With regards to ‘evidence’, this can be a certificate or an official letter confirming the necessary areas have been met.
